June
The term Flaming June gained new connotations after the news of major wildfires in Scotland as well as further South. The gamekeeping community turned out in force to apply their expertise, equipment and time, risking life and limb once again without hesitation. That the Fire Service appreciate their support is evident, but it is to be hoped that others including the general public as well as those in government agencies will take note.
Common sense prevailed after a repeat of the Grouse Moor debate on the very last day of the month. Groups and individuals are working hard to educate and entertain school children and adults alike in a variety of events around the country.
The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust continues to appreciate those who support us, at events and fundraisers and as important helping us to demonstrate the range of services offered. Thank you all.
The Scottish Fishing Trip was a real adventure, and we were indebted to so many who willingly gave up their time to talk to us and allow the cast of our GWT fly along the rivers visited. We learnt, we saw, and we will shout to the rooftops, but we also need those involved to do the same with regard to all the help we can give to anyone who may need support.
June has flown in a flurry of events, fundraisers attended and the tour as well as preparation for the summer. We continue to receive calls from families who are affected by redundancy, by loss and ill health. We are here always in confidence, any time about anything.
Our nurses would admonish my efforts if I did not ask you all to take care in the sun, keep hydrated, and cover up!
